JEDDAH: In an effort to further spread the awareness and knowledge of all aspects of the longstanding Palestinian issue, a new organization called Wasl has been formed. It is one of the youth groups affiliated to the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY).
This new group will lobby for bringing together young women interested in working for the cause of the Palestinians.
Wasl’s vision is to become a global institution and make efforts to resolve the issue by enrolling committed and dedicated young women across Saudi Arabia and also around the world. The group aims to provide a proper environment for women to innovate youth-oriented programs and projects that contribute toward spreading the knowledge of the Palestinian issue within an institutional framework. Wasl has initiated a program for young individuals to become a social worker and acquire the leadership role.
“It is the hope of the institution to provide an opportunity to bring all those interested in the Palestinian issue on one platform and support the cause,” said Wasl President Afnan Odeh. “We are presenting the bright and optimistic side of the Palestinian issue with victory in mind.”
She said that Wasl is seeking to become a global model for youth by being actively involved in finding an end to the Palestinian issue through a variety of youth-oriented cultural projects.
Wasl official Shatha Al-Shehry said: “Being a Palestinian, I have always been passionate about things that have an impact on my country’s problems. Wasl has provided a platform especially for young ladies like me to be a part and support the cause.”
