This refers to the report, “ Employers told to create good working environment for women (Oct. 5). Indeed, Labor Minister Adel Fakeih has taken positive steps to strengthen the position and status of women. There are many houses, where women are the sole breadwinners for the whole family, and if working environment is good and conducive for women, then they can concentrate on the job smoothly and peacefully. Recently, I visited to Farm 9, Alkhobar, and was very pleased to see that women working at cashier counters clad in full veil and were performing their job very efficiently. By this way they were also fulfilling their religious obligation while strengthening their financial position. Also, it is heartening to read that SABB organized the national conference in which senior officials from public and private sector were present to focus on the issue of Saudi women’s employment environment. I think, both public and private sectors should positively employ as many as women in their respective sectors to spur country’s economy. It is a fact of life that if a country intends to progress by leaps and bounds, then both men and women should shoulder the responsibilities equally and if it is done equally then progressive path of the country can be cemented firmly. — Anees Lokahnde, Alkhobar
