The Agricultural Development Fund (ADF) organizes the Third Workshop Initiative Fund VII in Riyadh on Tuesday. It is to review the proposed program for the development of the fisheries sector in the Kingdom.
“The initiative aims to build a sustained fish industry in the Kingdom, capable of achieving coastal development to its communities, and open up job opportunities for its citizens,” said Director-General of the Fund Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Owain. The workshop will discuss upgrading the trading of fishery products, creating alternative opportunities for fishermen and helping them to engage in small enterprises in the field of fish farming, in addition to proposing appropriate mechanisms to achieve this.
Owain hoped the study would devise a strategy plan for a sustainable fish industry that takes into account all aspects of economic, social, and environmental projects, and contribute to the increased utilization of Saudi resources in this field. The projects should provide high quality Saudi products at competitive prices in the local, regional and global markets.
The ADF launched seven initiatives in accordance with its efforts to implement an overall strategy.
This aims at addressing the problems faced by the agricultural sector, to achieve sustainable agriculture and rural development, providing new job opportunities for citizens, and improve the level, quality and safety of agricultural products at reasonable prices.
