LUCKNOW: Renowned Urdu Novelist of yesteryears, Afaq Haider, died Thursday morning at his residence in Lucknow, India, after a brief illness. He was 77 and is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
Afaq Haider was contemporary of Ibne Safi, Ibne Saaed and Shakeel Jamali. His novels were a reflection of the Muslim middle class.
His more than 25 novels were published under the banner of Roomani Duniya, a publication of the Nakhat Group of Publications whose flagship publication was Jasoosi Duniya of the world famous Ibne Safi.
Afaq Haider was the maternal uncle of Saudi Arabia-based Indian journalist Saeed Haider.
