Seoul: The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has initiated a program to promote Saudi youth relations between Saudi Arabia and nations around the world. The Saudi Korean Youth Forum is the fifth initiative promoting youth diplomacy, the first three included China, Brazil Germany and India.
The Saudi Korean-Youth Forum will include a delegation of Saudi Youth visiting Korea to learn success stories of their Korean peers who have contributed toward the development and progress of their country. The theme of the forum highlights “Knowledge-based economy, smart cities, broadband and e-education.”
The objective is to promote growing Saudi-Korean relations and benefit from the Korean experience in the field of ICT and knowledge-based economy. The program will include visits to a number of Korean Universities as well as technology and communication centers and government institutes.
The purpose of the Saudi-Korean youth forum is to enable the youth to learn from other cultures as well as foster friendly relations between Saudi and the Korean youth. The activities of the forum will provide an opportunity for Saudi young men and women to interact with their Korean counterparts and outline common ideas and perceptions.
This initiative would be a means of breaking the barriers of distance and creating a better understanding among the youth. It would promote friendship among the youth population of both countries as well as build an understanding among them. It is hoped that the youth would come up with recommendations and proposals aimed at creating a better environment for technology and communication.
In addition, there will be dialogue and debate sessions focusing on latest trends and developments in the field of technology and how to utilize technology in order to confront the current challenges in both countries. At the conclusion of the forum the youth will be presenting a bilateral letter addressed to both king and president of the two countries and a letter to the secretary general of the UN, in these letters the youth will be outlining their hopes, aspirations and recommendations to promote youth contributions in the field of technology for the development of both countries and the world as a whole.
King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and The Saudi Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC) are supporting the Saudi-Korean Youth forum and contributed in setting the theme and the activities.
The International Saudi Youth Forum’s vision and mission comes as an embodiment of the Interfaith Dialogue initiative of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
The mission is also to support the development of bilateral relations and economic, cultural and political relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the world and to invest in Saudi youth by giving them the opportunity to communicate with the world youth while spreading the positive image of the Kingdom.
