Zain Saudi Arabia has been successful in providing a variety of services to pilgrims in Makkah, Mina and Arafat, including international roaming, broadband services for data transfer and SMS services.
The company has increased the data entry capacity to 11 megabit/second at all the holy sites, and established more than 600 communication stations between Makkah and the holy sites.
“This has enabled more than 2.5 million pilgrims to make calls exceeding 3 million seconds per hour,” the company said in a statement.
The company recorded a remarkable increase in the use of broadband and data transfer, which grew sevenfold compared to the same period last year.
“We have also noticed a substantial rise in the number of voice calls and users of roaming facility,” he said.
Zain Saudi Arabia said pilgrims had experienced the development in the company’s services. It atributed the progress to the previous experience it had earned during pilgrimages in the past four years.
“Zain has helped pilgrims make international and domestic calls without interruptions by increasing the number of its communication towers in Makkah and the holy places,” the statement said.
The company said it achieved high rates in the use of its network by pilgrims as a result of its efforts to develop the network over the past months, to provide the best possible services to the guests of God in Makkah, Madinah and other holy sites.
“We have also offered special discounts on domestic and international calls as well as on data transfer services,” it said.
The company emphasized its efforts to develop the network by acquiring the latest technology.
