Al-Yamamah University celebrated Monday its graduation evening for students who obtained master's and bachelor's degrees.
The number of master’s graduates, the university’s first batch, was 45. The number of bachelor’s graduates, the university’s fourth batch, was 260.
Khalid bin Mohammad Khadir, chairman of the board of trustees of the university, expressed thanks to Riyadh Gov. Prince Sattam and his deputy Prince Mohammed bin Saad for attending the graduation ceremony.
“Al-Yamamah University since its inception was keen on creating a scientifically and academically balanced atmosphere for students, combining theoretical science and practical application with the latest styles as well as ensuring the provision of the very best of education and training for our students through specialized programs to serve the labor market,” he said.
Khadir stressed the university’s keenness to provide an integrated program similar to that offered by international universities in the areas of business management and information technology, and which takes into account the needs of the labor market in the Kingdom.
“The best American and Canadian universities have been selected to cooperate with us in the design of academic programs and transfer expertise and international experience,” he added.
“King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, the leading university in the Kingdom, was chosen as a strategic partner in the review of all study plans to ensure their conformity with international standards and the need for a business environment in Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.”
Khadir pointed to the academic environment and integrated campus services providing all scientific, educational, recreational facilities needed by students. He said: "We in Al-Yamamah University, aspire to contribute to an environment that supports the efforts of students to take their lessons, lectures and activities seriously and sincerely, and to acquire knowledge and skills that provide them with scientific excellence in the future.”
Khadir expressed deep happiness and congratulations to the graduates, adding their achievements are testament to their efforts and dedication to succeed and excel and get a scientific degree. He also thanked their parents for their guidance.
Rector Hussein bin Mohammed Freihi also expressed his thanks and gratitude to Prince Sattam and Prince Mohammed for gracing the occasion.
“Al-Yamamah University is interested in developing students’ academic performances and introduce innovative and modern methods to help them learn better, and to intensify the use of modern technologies in facilitating the learning process and self-reliance, and give students the unique university experience,” he said.
“Al-Yamamah University has multiple channels in order to create a new generation of citizens with a great number of educational, cognitive, and advanced achievements. There was a keenness from the university to open the way for multiple scientific specialties such as the MA and BA degrees in business administration and computer science.”
The university rector expressed deep happiness and joy over the achievements of the graduates.
Mohammed Al-Khadir, one of the graduates, said: "We, the students of Al-Yamamah University, appreciate the university for helping us learn and graduate, both in learning English as well as engaging in an academic environment. The benefits of my studies include gaining the ability of self-reliance and handling different environments. It helped me to recognize social culture and education much better,” Al-Khadir added.
Fellow graduate Abdul Aziz Abanemy said: "The skills we gained at the university had a positive impact on my life academically, especially in the field of computer and information systems. The most prominent feature of the university is the educational atmosphere, which focuses on treating everyone as one family. The staff members teaching me were excellent mentors to me."
