The formidable team Neneng Batumbakal is slowly regaining its vaunted form toward the homestretch of the Unified Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (UFTBR)-Thales Sunday Bowling League at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).
In week 23 of the tournament, Batumbakal routed Itqaan Strikers 20-11 for its first Team of the Week award. Leading the team was Benito Santos who rolled a 4-game series of 896, with contributions from Andro Tismo (870), Joe Garrido (854), Rodel Maranca (805), Chiron Agbisit (629) and Vicky Vitug (196).
In other matches, Unica Aldrei defeated Alwan Micronizers 18-11, Bandar Bowlers edged SACO Bolts and Nuts 19-13, Itqan Tenpin Wizards downed Thales 18-15, Habagat won over Itqan Storm 17-14, Saudi Oger upset Philippine Embassy 18-11 and Itqan Aces swamped Bowleros 20-12.
Named bowlers of the week were Steve Perez (972 series) and Jim Dela Rosa (916). Ronald Bautista of Batumbakal team still leads in the men’s MVP race with an average of 218.69 followed by Celis Viloria (215.27) and Ernee Noto (214.47). In the ladies MVP race, Lulu Quejada regained the lead with an average 183.40 followed by Beth Danganan (181.57) and Cheng Herosa at third (178.91).

Kalayaan Cup
Meantime, more than 20 teams have already registered in the upcoming 4-team bowling event 2012 Kalayaan Cup being organized by UFTBR. The annual bowling tournament being held in celebration of the Philippine Independence Day is set for June 6- to 8 at the UBC. Team registration is still ongoing with the following companies confirming their sponsorships and support – STC, Al Tayyar Travel Group Co. House of Donuts, Al Safi Danone, Ghandour and Nadec. Also, UFTBR is pleased to announce that the medical mission that the Riyadh bowling community sponsored and was carried out in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on May 5 was a huge success. UFTBR through its chairman Ernee Noto would like to thank all bowlers who have contributed and participated in the fund raising bowling games and made this first ever medical mission possible.
