JEDDAH, 5 April — The United Bangsaranao Council (UBC), a coalition of Maranao organizations in Jeddah, has finally completed its selection of new officers for the year 2001-2002.

Voted unanimously for the position of sheikh (titular head of the council) is engineer Balilis Mauntante Omar, widely known as Omar Bin Omar.

Omar said he is calling on Maranaos to support his administration as he promised to reform and strengthen the organization, to launch an Islamic awareness, and to provide activities on physical and mental fitness.

The other new officers are Mon Islao of Shakba International, scretary-general, Abdurahman Dipolog of Abna Marantao Fi’s Saudia as treasurer, Datu Amin Dipatuan of Ganassi United Islamic Development as auditor, and Datu Khalid Minodar of Greenland Unayan as public relation officer.

The induction and investiture ceremony for these new officers will be on April 20 at the Nayong Pilipino Restaurant in Jeddah.
