TEHRAN, 19 April — Interior Minister Prince Naif said yesterday that there were no foreign armed forces in the Kingdom. Some flights were allowed by the Kingdom under relevant UN Security Council resolutions. Prince Naif made the statement while speaking to the media shortly before his departure from Tehran. “This will end when either the Security Council decides or the Kingdom desires otherwise. There is nothing more to that,” he added.

“As for other countries, I cannot say anything because every country has its own reasons,” Prince Naif said, replying to a question whether the security agreement signed with Iran yesterday will have any bearing on the size of foreign forces in the region.

The prince also said Saudi citizens can now visit Iran as tourists or for business or any other legitimate purpose in keeping with the regulations of both countries. Iranians can also visit the Kingdom for Haj and Umrah. They can also visit Madinah as per the regulations, particularly when new Umrah laws come into force next month. For employment there are different procedures and regulations, he added.

The prince also said his visit to Iran accomplished excellent results and both sides agreed on all issues.

In a joint communiqué at the conclusion of his visit yesterday, Saudi Arabia and Iran announced their support for the demands of the Palestinian people to regain their usurped rights.

The two sides condemned Israel’s repressive policy against the Palestinian people and stressed their support for Lebanon and the Lebanese people’s right to resist occupation. They also voiced solidarity with Syria and stressed the need for the total restoration of its territories occupied by Israel. Prince Naif later reached Jeddah yesterday.
