KARACHI, 22 April — The Muttahida Qaumi Movement led by Altaf Hussain offered an olive branch to the government saying it was ready to hold talks on the issue of water crisis if the authorities release all those arrested on different charges. The MQM has been protesting water crisis in Sindh and had called a strike last week which triggered sporadic violence and mass arrests. The party said talks should be held with the representatives of the federal government as talks with the provincial administration would be futile because they lack authority. Even the governor in Sindh has no power. “What is the purpose of talking to him?” the MQM statement said.
