RIYADH, 22 April  — The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center organized a career development day here yesterday. The main purpose of the event, inaugurated by Dr. Faisal ibn Salman, was to compliment people participating in the Saudi Career Development Program. The SCDP is a training program implemented by KFSH to provide high quality training and guidance for Saudi candidates to help them occupy different hospital jobs.

Mahmoud Sharaf, acting associate executive director of the training and development services, said the main goal of the program was to promote Saudization in the hospital and eventually contribute to the hospital’s staffing needs.

The program also offers universities and institutes the opportunity to train their students in different hospital departments and to introduce them to the job market. SCDP’s scholarship program helps Saudi employees to pursue postgraduate studies in the Kingdom and abroad.

The SCDP was launched in 1987 with 43 participants. Today, 135 candidates — majority of them nurses, lab technicians and pharmacists — are enrolled in the program.
