JEDDAH, 28 April — A youth in the northeastern city of Buraidah shot his elder brother dead on Wednesday night while other members of the family looked on, reports said yesterday.
The two brothers had a quarrel earlier in the day. The youth, however, ended the argument telling his brother that they would meet in the evening near the latter’s home in the Mishaal district to settle the dispute, Al-Jazira newspaper reported from Buraidah.
Their kinsmen had gathered at the house in a bid to resolve the dispute amicably. However, they were terrified when the young man arrived at the appointed hour toting a gun. He fired several rounds at his brother before others could stop him. His victim fell on the floor and died immediately.
The youth fled the scene after the cold-blooded murder. Police found his car abandoned in front of a city apartment late in the night. They have launched a manhunt after registering a detailed statement from his father on his behavior and likely hideouts, the newspaper said.
Kidnapper arrested
Taif police, meanwhile, arrested a man wanted for kidnapping girls, Al-Madinah reported yesterday.
The man was arrested while trying to abduct a girl from the city. The alleged kidnapper, wearing a mask, snatched the girl and was escaping in his car. But the girl’s sister came to her rescue. She wrestled with the man and succeeded in unmasking him. But the man drew a knife and stabbed her before fleeing the scene.
The girls gave an accurate description of the man which helped the police to track down and arrest him within a few days. The man confessed to a number of abductions in the city in the past.
