DUBAI, 1 May  — The Saudi Research and Publishing Company has announced that it has chosen Dubai to be the center for its media, information and printing activities in the Gulf region.

The decision follows an understanding between Prince Ahmad ibn Salman, chairman of the board of directors of the Saudi Research and Marketing Group, and Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Muhammad ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum, Abdul Rahman Al-Rashid, editor-in-chief of Aharq Al-Awsat, a sister publication of Arab News, told a press conference here on Sunday.

SRPC publications Asharq Al-Awsat, Urdu News and Malayalam News will start printing from Dubai shortly, he added.  With this Dubai will become the 12th center for printing SRPC publications worldwide. The move is expected to boost circulation of the group’s publications as well as its advertising and public relations activities in the region.

Hilmi Zahid, executive director of SRPC Emirates, said, “While we thank Sheikh Muhammad ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum for giving us an opportunity to start our activities in the Dubai Media City, we are happy to announce our entry into Dubai. We believe that our company will further spread and grow in Dubai’s strong economic position.” Muhammad Al-Gargawi of Dubai Free Trade Zone Authority attended the press briefing.
