JEDDAH, 1 May — Saudi government has decided to enforce health regulations inside workers’ residential camps.
This was stated by Information Minister Fuad Al-Farsi in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the Cabinet meeting here yesterday. Addressing the meeting, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd stressed the importance of meetings and discussions to ensure cooperation and integration among the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The king chaired the meeting held at Al-Salam Palace. King Fahd briefed the Council on the topics he discussed with Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad ibn Khalifa Al-Thani who visited Saudi Arabia last Tuesday and reviewed bilateral relations and current developments in the Gulf, Arab and international arena, Fuad Al-Farsi said in his statement.
The king informed the Cabinet about his meeting and discussions with Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. The Cabinet also discussed Israel’s continuing aggression against the Palestinian people, reiterating the Kingdom’s support for an independent Palestinian state.
“The Cabinet reviewed the situation in the Palestinian territories and noted the violence and killings of unarmed Palestinian people by the occupying Israeli troops,” Al-Farsi said. “We call on the international community in general and the United Nations and the United States in particular to put an end to this vicious aggression,” Al-Farsi said.
King Fahd reiterated Saudi Arabia’s whole-hearted support for the Palestinian cause “until our brothers are able to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and the Palestinians refugees return home.”
