COTABATO CITY, 2 May — The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) adheres to its policy of non-interference as regards the present crisis being faced by the Arroyo administration brought about by disturbances by supporters of deposed former President Joseph Estrada, spokesman Eid Kabalu, said yesterday. “(The) MILF has a standing policy prohibiting interference on matters considered as domestic problems of the Philippine government”, he clarified. The Philippine government and the MILF signed a memorandum agreement resuming peace talks between the two parties in Kuala Lumpur last March 24, 2001. The group will also observe a similar policy as regards the May 14, 2001 local and legislative elections. Hence, there is no truth to the claims by some individuals and parties that the MILF is backing or supporting their political bids, Kabalu further clarified.
