JEDDAH, 8 May — The Chairman of the Shakba International, Eng’r Hasan ‘Clary’ Macaraya has launched a fund-raising drive for the families of the three OFWs detained in Jeddah.
The fund drive for the three OFWs, Abulkhair Guro, Rawiani Usman and Kamal Lomondot have so far raised more than SR 7,000 and has been given to the families of Usman and Lomondot. Usman has seven dependents consisting of his wife and six children while Lomondot has his wife and three children. The three OFWs have been languishing in jail for three months now.
Macaraya has called on all OFWs in general to contribute to this humanitarian effort.
“This is the time for us to help each other and for the community associations to play a role in this undertaking,” he said.
He encourage the friends of the detained OFWs to visit them to help alleviate their depression at their sorry state.
Macaraya said that the efforts of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh is appreciated by the local Filipino community. Ambassador Rafael Seguis has made representations with the Saudi authorities to have the three released.
Ambassador Seguis also secured visitor visas and facilitated the release of airline tickets to the detainee’s relatives from the Philippines.
