JEDDAH, 8 May — The Bazm-e-Osmania honored Asaduddin Owaisi leader of Majlis Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen and a member of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly. The reception was hosted by its President Arif Quraishi who also heads the Indian Cultural Society which recently distributed 5,000 used textbooks among needy students during its annual campaign. Assisting the campaign were Iqbal Shaikh Al-Sulkar, Muhammad Abdul Wajid Ali, Maqbool Parvez, Siraj Ahmad, Minhaj Ahmad, Fatima Maqbool, Azharuddin Al Sulkar, Muhammad Abdul Mateen, Aleem Mohsin and Ali Omar. Owaisi’s 30 year role in public life was reviewed by Quraishi who suggested that an NRIs’ forum be set up in Dar-us-Salaam in Hyderabad to tackle the problems of overseas Indians. Owaisi called for unity among Muslims, a cause for which his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi devoted his entire life. Saeed Mohsin Baghazaal and Baquer Baig also spoke. Naseeruddin recited verses from the Qur’an.
