RIYADH, 8 May — Prince Abdullah ibn Faisal ibn Turki, governor of the Saudi General Investment Agency, and former Saudi finance and national economy minister Muhammad Abal Khail are attending the 7th Arab Investment and Capital Markets Conference ( AICMC) in Beirut.
Also attending are over 100 other Saudi delegates, including businessmen, senior bankers, economists and top financial officers.
Faisal Abu Zaki, the director of the conference and the senior official of the Al Iktissad Wal-Aamal Group which is organizing the conference along with Central Bank of Lebanon, said the three-day event will be opened on Thursday morning by Lebanon’s Prime Minister Rafiq Al-Hariri. Twenty-five countries will be participating in the conference.
“Prince Abdullah will present an overview of the investment scene in the Kingdom in the light of the new foreign investment laws and initiative introduced by the Saudi government, aimed at attracting more foreign investment to the country,” he said, adding that the prince will be holding a dialogue with the audience. The dialogue will focus on the prospects of foreign investment in the Kingdom.
During the conference, Abu Zaki said that Abal Khail will be honored in recognition of his contribution to the Saudi and Arab economy during the last 25 years.
AICMC 2001 will deal with a wide range of topics and issues with special focus on the following topics: The new climate for foreign investment, repositioning for the global economy, regionalization of trade and investment, financing the next wave of mega projects, and cross-border banking: opportunities for growth.
