SANAA, 12 May — Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, will visit Yemen on May 21 to participate in the country’s National Day celebrations, the anniversary of its unification on May 22, 1990, according to September 26, an official organ of the Yemeni armed forces. Crown Prince Abdullah, who will head a high-level delegation comprising princes, ministers and high ranking officials, will view the grand celebrations to be held in Aden city on the occasion. He will hold talks with Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and exchange medals to mark the first anniversary of the signing of the land and marine border demarcation treaty between Saudi Arabia and Yemen at Jeddah on June 12 last year. The accord paved the way for greater cooperation between the two countries.
The crown prince’s visit comes against the backdrop of intensifying relationship between the two countries in all areas. Prince Sultan ibn Turki, undersecretary at the Information Ministry, said the relations between the two countries are steeped in antiquity reinforced by the bonds of faith, brotherhood and kinship.
The official source also revealed that Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, will make an official visit to Yemen on June 12, an historic day. The prince will head the Saudi delegation attending the meetings of the Saudi-Yemen Joint Coordination Council which is scheduled to meet in the Yemeni capital.
Yemen’s Premier Abdul Qadir Bajammal will lead his country’s delegation to the meetings.
