JEDDAH, 13 May — Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed chaired a meeting of the Central Haj Committee yesterday in his office here.
The meeting discussed the preparations made by the concerned government agencies to serve Haj and Umrah pilgrims and visitors.
The discussions also included the plans for this year’s Umrah season, the committee’s acting secretary-general Abdul Rahman Al-Aqla said in a statement after the meeting.
The meeting discussed the arrangements at both the King Abdul Aziz International Airport and the Jeddah Islamic Port to receive the pilgrims, he said.
Al-Aqla added, the authorities will be coordinating with the airlines agencies to have a clear picture of the number of pilgrims expected in the season.
The authorities would also take necessary steps, if needed, to make additional security or operational arrangements.
Al-Aqla added that the meeting discussed the Islamic Port’s plan to recruit more qualified manpower and install modern machinery in order to offer better service to the pilgrims.
