LAHORE, 13 May— The Punjab government plans to construct three dams in Potohar, Dera Ghazi Khan and Cholistan during the next fiscal year, Dawn newspaper reported quoting Agriculture Minister Khurshid Zaman Qureshi. The minister said the provincial government would ensure that the farmers are not affected.

About the wheat support price crisis, Qureshi said the food department had stepped up its procurement drive and was now buying more than 100,000 tons of wheat per day. This should help stabilize the price to some extent, he added. The Agriculture Department was planning conducting raids at procurement centers in the province to ensure that no smuggling took place, he added.
