RIYADH, 16 May — Dr. Youssef ibn Muhammad Al-Samaan, the renowned psychiatry consultant at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, has won the ‘Best Researcher’ award from the bi-annual Universal Congress for Schizophrenia, being held this year in Canada.
A total number of 127 scientists from different research centers around the world were nominated for this year’s award. The winner is usually selected based on the quality and importance of the research presented in addition to the researcher’s other contributions in the field of psychiatry.
The committee of the congress described Dr. Al-Samaan’s work as “distinguished research that helps in diagnosing the disease.” The worksheet presented by Dr. Al-Samaan described the disorder occurring in certain parts of the brain that causes the disease.
Dr. Al-Samaan has already made many contributions in the field, previously winning the award of best researcher among Canadian residents in 1999.
Dr. Al-Samaan previously won an award from Western University in Ontario for his researches in the field of schizophrenia and depression.
