RIYADH, 26 May — The chairman of the Bangladesh International School management committee is planning a meeting with Hamad Al-Halwa, director general of International Schools at the Ministry of Education, today to brief him on alleged irregularities in the school management committee elections scheduled for June 8.

In a signed representation faxed to Arab News last night, Dr. Abdul Rahman said the election commissioners were “caught red-handed” yesterday in their attempt to tamper with the nomination papers and disqualify some of the candidates.

The fax message also included a statement from the school principal, Allie Shaikh. The original evaluation form signed by the election officials was replaced by a new form, Shaikh admitted in his statement. The three election officials are Asaduzzaman, Dr. Zakir Mamun and the principal.

Abdul Rahman told Arab News on phone the committee members discovered the “forgery” when they visited the school after being tipped off by a source. They saw the election officers and the principal locked inside the commission room, he said.

Caught unawares, “the commission members were surprised and shocked,” Abdul Rahman said. When they questioned the principal on the surprise meeting, “the election commission members realized that they were caught red-handed and one of them even tried to assault us,” he added.

No meeting was scheduled for yesterday.

Abdul Rahman is one of seven board members disqualified by the election commission. The nomination papers of nine others have been validated.
