JEDDAH, 27 May — In line with the administration of International Philippine School in Jeddah (IPSJ) primary consideration of the school year 2001-2002, Dr. Reinita M. Respicio, the newly appointed principal conducted a week long seminar-workshop from May 19 to 22, 2001 to enhance the ability of teachers to impart quality education to their students. Respicio, a holder of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Major in Educational Management, gave lectures on General Pedagogy, Classroom Management, New Strategies and Techniques in Teaching and Human Relations.
She believes that the faculty is a vital component of a school system. It plays a crucial role in the process of developing pupils and students to become effective members of the community and useful citizens of the nation. She adds that the faculty needs change as they grow up, mature and age professionally. Faculty development programs should really be designed to respond to the changing needs of its participants.
Teachers are still the central figure of human resource management and contribute greatly to the formation of truly good individuals. She concludes that quality pupils and students in the school system depends greatly upon the quality of teachers because teachers act as the primary movers in guiding the teaching-learning processes.
The participants in the seminar workshop enjoyed and actively participated in all the activities because every activity was made interesting.
