JEDDAH, 27 May — A high-level Saudi Arabian Airlines delegation led by its Director General Dr. Khaled Bakr left for Madrid yesterday to take part in the 57th annual general meeting of the International Air Transport Association in the Spanish city today. King Juan Carlos of Spain, accompanied by Queen Sofia, will inaugurate the meeting. The opening ceremony will be attended by chief executives of IATA’s member airlines as well as high-ranking officials of the Spanish government. IATA’s Director General Pierre Jeanniot will brief the participants on the state of the air transport industry. There will be special presentations by international experts on topics such as “globalization”, “financing the air transport system”, and “safety strategy.” Besides Dr. Bakr, the Saudia delegation includes Abdul Aziz Al-Hazmi, executive vice president for marketing, and Hany M. Aref, vice president for air transport industry and IATA affairs, among others.
