MADINAH, 5 January — The King Fahd Complex for printing the Holy Qur'an in Madinah will organize a series of courses related to the Holy Book such as tajweed (correct recitation), said Muhammad Salim Al-Oufi, secretary-general of the complex, in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency. The proposed courses are part of the tasks undertaken by the complex in the service of the Holy Qur'an such as printing, recording, preserving and publishing, Al-Oufi said.
Only candidates who have fully memorized the Holy Book can apply for the course which is scheduled to start on Feb. 6. The candidates should not be less than 18 years old and should pass the interview to be held from Jan. 20 to 24 at the complex's premises, the secretary-general said.
The seven-month course will be conducted at the Prophet's Mosque in the evenings thrice a week, he said. Successful students will be awarded certificates. The applications should reach the complex's headquarters on Tabuk Road on or before Jan. 15.
The complex, which was established in 1985, aims at supplying reliable and error-free copies of the Holy Qur'an in sufficient numbers to the Muslim communities in the world. The copies of the Holy Qur'an and its meaning in various languages are supplied free of cost. The complex also records recitations of the Holy Book. Other tasks of the complex include the supervision of the Prophet's sunnah and the Biography Service Center where manuscripts and documents related to the Prophet's sunnah and biography are preserved.
