RIYADH, 9 January — A special panel of the Saudi Electricity Company has started working on an administrative plan to unify salaries and other perks of its 28,000 employees. The move comes following the merger of 10 regional electricity companies with the SEC early last year.
The company will also look into the fate of about 2,000 employees who were working for the General Electricity Organization, which has been abrogated with the establishment of SEC. The liquidation of the organization is expected to be completed within a few months.
Informed sources told Arab News that all employees of the General Electricity Organization would continue to receive the salaries and benefits they were receiving before. They would be accommodated either at SEC or at various ministries. With regard to expatriate workers, they said, they will be either reinstated or terminated in accordance with SEC's requirements.
