JEDDAH, 15 January — An international consortium of companies has expressed its readiness to construct a railway line linking the Kingdom with Gulf countries, Yemen and Iraq, Al-Hayat newspaper reported yesterday. The consortium led by Luay Mutabagani Company has already presented a proposal to the Saudi Ministry of Communications. The paper said a number of Saudi companies had expressed their desire to take part in the project. According to World Bank, the project would cost SR12 billion.
