RIYADH, 16 January — Three Saudis, including a woman and her daughter,  were beheaded yesterday for murder, the Interior Ministry announced.

Basria Hussein Al-Anzi was found guilty of shooting dead her father after giving him sleeping pills. Her mother, Hamida Saad Kassem, was convicted as an accomplice for helping to transport the body to the desert where it was burnt.

The two women were beheaded in the northern town of Hafer Al-Baten near the Kuwaiti and Iraqi borders.

Another convicted murderer, Saghir ibn Said Al-Sufiani, was executed yesterday in a southern village, the Interior Ministry said.

Saudi Arabia, home of Islam's holiest places, imposes the death penalty according to the Shariah laws, on people found guilty of murder, rape, apostasy, armed robbery, drug trafficking and repeated drug use.
