ABHA, 17June — An exhibition of local and imported products which began here last week is drawing about 6,000 visitors daily since its launch, according to the organizers.
The exhibition at the Abha Exhibition Center near the airport is organized by the Rawwad Co. for Exhibitions in cooperation with the Abha Chamber of Commerce, said Ehssan Abdul Hameed Salama, general manager of the company.
The exhibition has 72 stalls displaying products ranging from clothing, foodstuff, dairy products, and building material. “We have a good chance of buying products at discounted prices,” said a visitor, Chowdry Akhter.
“We are enjoying brisk business,” added Atif, a shopkeeper from Madinah selling comforters for mattresses.
The public response has been enthusiastic as the atmosphere is conducive for families, with numerous prizes on offer. Families are enjoying the outing as the summer vacation has just started. There are joy rides outside the exhibition hall for children.
Twenty prizes, which include TV sets, video cassette recorders, computers, and emergency lamps are given away to visitors in a raffle draw organized by the exhibition through a questionnaire handed out at the entrance and deposited in a box, according to Salama.
“We expect the business to pick up after the exhibition,” said Nabil, selling ready-made garments imported from Syria. Mukaram Khan of Saudi Distribution Company said the public response has been healthy. The show is open from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon, and from 4.30 p.m. to 12.00 midnight. The exhibition will end on Friday.
