RIYADH, 19 June — The King Fahd Qur’an Printing Complex in Madinah is planning to publish a translation of the Holy Qur’an in Hebrew, according to Saleh Al-Sheikh, minister of Islamic affairs, endowments, propagation and guidance. He said the complex’s higher council decided to bring out the new translation after media reports that Israel was printing and distributing distorted translation of the holy book.

Al-Sheikh reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering stand on the Palestinian and Al-Qods issues and said it was based on its Islamic commitment rather than political standpoint. He welcomed dialogue with other cultural entities and coexistence with other communities. “This does not mean that we accept dilution in our commitments,” the minister told the Saudi Press Agency.
