BURAIDAH, 27 January — A Kuwait Airways plane made an emergency landing at Qassim Airport on Thursday to save the life of a 19-year-old girl aboard, Al-Jazirah newspaper reported yesterday. The girl, who fell unconscious while traveling from Jeddah to Kuwait, was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after landing.
Qassim Governor Prince Faisal ibn Bandar ordered the treatment of Anoud Muhammad Al-Baddah, a Kuwaiti girl, at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Buraidah. He urged the hospital authorities to give him up-to-date information about the girl's condition. The governor said Anoud and her accompanying relatives would be his guests until they return to Kuwait.
Dr. Hisham ibn Muhammad Nadhira of the King Fahd Specialist Hospital said the girl's condition was stable. Her brother and mother are beside her in the hospital.
Anoud's mother, Umm Nasir Al-Ajami, said her daughter fell unconscious when her head hit on the side in the toilet when the aircraft veered in turbulent weather. The air stewards gave her first-aid treatment until the plane landed in Qassim.
The plane was just 20 minutes away from Qassim airport when the accident took place and it was given landing permission as per the governor's directive. Umm Nasir thanked Prince Faisal as well as the staff of Kuwait Airways and the hospital for the humanitarian gesture.
