JEDDAH, 20 June — A seminar on maltreatment of children will be held at the Saudi German Hospital auditorium here today, with the participation of international and national experts.
Organized by SGH in collaboration with Saudi Pediatric Association, Jeddah Psychiatry Club, Jeddah Psychiatry Hospital and Al-Aziziah Maternity and Children’s Hospital, the daylong seminar will discuss various forms of child abuse, the magnitude of the problem in the Kingdom and other countries and the psychological impact as well as the cultural aspects of the problem.
The issue will be discussed in pediatric, religious and legal perspectives. Overseas speakers include Dr. Peter Loader and Vanessa Smith of the UK, and Professor Zeinab Bishry of Egypt. It will be presided by Dr. Hesham A. Omar, head of the SGH pediatric department, according to Dr. Yasser Eid, conference organizing bureau manager.
