JEDDAH, 7 February — Saudi Gulf Environmental Protection Company announced yesterday that it would establish three more major plants to treat medical garbage as part of the company's expansion program.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the company's board of directors chaired by Prince Khaled ibn Abdullah. "During the meeting the prince directed setting up of three new medical garbage treatment plants in different parts of the Kingdom," a press statement said.
The company said the new plants would be set up before the end of this year. The move was aimed at "implementing a plan to provide medical garbage treatment and management service in all cities and towns in the country within a short span," the statement added.
Adel Salim Badeeb, director general of SEPCO, said the plan was also in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd to take steps for protecting environment and keeping cities clean.
He commended the good response of medical establishments in both public and private sectors toward environment protection efforts. "This has prompted us to go ahead with our ambitious plans," he added. SEPCO is considered a leader in medical garbage treatment and management in the Middle East.
