RIYADH, 12 February — Saudi Telecommunications Company's board of directors has decided to cut connection fee for mobile phones from SR1,500 to SR800 and for family mobiles from SR500 to SR400.

The new rates will be in force after approval by the Ministry of Finance and National Economy. High-level STC sources told Arab News that the rate cuts would be effective within 45 days.

The board also decided to reduce mobile telephone charges from SR1.2 to less than SR1 per minute. The sources said the company would also change peak-time and off-peak schedules for discounted calls. -- Mutlak Al-Baqami
