JEDDAH, 22 June — Filipino civil engineering graduates and practitioners in the Kingdom will have a chance to hear about the latest developments in the profession at home in a special meeting scheduled on June 25 by the Association of Filipino Civil Engineers (AFCE).

Gamie Mapandi, spokesman of the association, said Undersecretary Bashir Rasuman of the Philippine Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been invited as guest speaker during the assembly. Mapandi said the meeting will be held at 8 p.m. at the Tropicana Restaurant on Tahlia St. in Jeddah.

AFCE Chairman Romulo Bani said all association members are invited, especially those who are taking the licensure exams for civil engineers on July 5 and 6 in Jeddah.

“This will be a chance for all of us to know about the latest in the civil engineering field because lots of developments have happened over the past years,” he said.

One of the hottest issues, he said, is the move by various professions for the issuance of lifetime professional license by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

A team from the PRC and the Board of Civil Engineers will be arriving in Jeddah early next month to administer the first licensure test for civil engineers to be held outside the Philippines.
