RIYADH, 18 February — Dr. Abdul Aziz Abu Zinada, secretary-general of the National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development, has been elected vice president of the World Conservation Union (WCU). A press release issued by NCWCD said here yesterday that the election, held at the headquarters of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature in Switzerland last week, indicated international recognition of the role played by Dr. Abu Zinada in the global conservation program. Founded in 1948 under the auspices of the UNESCO, the World Conservation Union brings together 79 states, 112 government agencies, 735 non-governmental agencies, 35 affiliates and some 10,000 scientists and experts from 181 countries in a unique partnership.
