DAMMAM, 19 February — Eastern Province Governor Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd inaugurated the Career Day at the technical college here yesterday and visited several displays set up by companies which had come to assess current and graduating students for future employment.
Eisa Al-Ansary, director of the college, said the institute was producing some of the best talents and its curricula were prepared keeping in view the requirements of the job market. He said the college was playing an important role in the Saudization program launched by the government.
He called upon the private sector to place confidence in the Saudi work force and hire them for prospective jobs.
Khaled Al-Zamil, president of the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who spoke on behalf of the private sector, said the private sector was not only keen to hire Saudi workers but also to give them on-job training so that they could become more useful in the workplace. He said the chamber had launched several training programs in order to speed up the Saudization process.
Prince Muhammad visited several pavilions and encouraged the companies' efforts to hire nationals.
The Career Day gives an opportunity to the students and prospective employers to interact with each other and understand mutual requirements. Scores of technical college graduates have found positions in national industries through the event while many companies were able to tap some of the best talents emerging from the college.
