JEDDAH, 24 February — The number of pilgrims coming for Haj to Makkah from abroad increased from less than 100,000 in 1948 to more than 1.267 million last year, according to a statistical report carried by the Saudi Press Agency. The number of foreign pilgrims crossed half a million for the first time in 1968 when 645,000 came from abroad for Haj. (SPA)
