RIYADH, 1 March — The Passports Department in Riyadh has discovered several violations by domestic Haj service organizations and individuals applying for Haj permits. According to the Abdullah Al-Sawat, head of the Haj permits section, several applicants had made contracts with organizations which had already used up their quota. Some applicants did not even produce the contracts with the service organizations. The Interior Ministry has announced that all domestic pilgrims, both Saudis and expatriates, should apply for Haj permits with a service contract attached. The Haj permit office in Riyadh receives over 4,000 inquiries daily and over 30,000 permits have already been issued, Al-Sawat said. (SPA)
