JEDDAH, 29 June — “Sinbad, Sinbad, Sinbad,” children shout in chorus as the legendary hero by the name takes on every villain, every odd and every difficult situation to his advantage to declare his supremacy and sails through.

The show titled Sinbad, a merchant in the Arabian Nights who makes seven adventurous voyages, is now running before capacity crowd three times daily at a location next to the Jeddah Science and Technology Center on the Corniche. Organized by the ACE Events, it has gripping episodes running one after the other in three adjoining parts.

One part is where fighters cross swords. At the center is the diving board with divers plunging from as high as 27 meters into a three-meter deep pool. At the other end  are encounters with a  Cyclops, one-eyed giant,  followed by human chimpanzees performing with a clown giving comic relief.

Bill Brown, co-owner and creator of the show, told Arab News: “I’ve developed the Sinbad show exclusively for the ongoing Jeddah summer festival. I was encouraged by the tremendous welcome my Zoro show received here last year’.” The other co-owner of the show is Eve Fornier of Canada.

Brown, who hails from Orlando, said his 10-member unit, comprising Americans and Canadians, handles everything from light and sound to laser technology aside from performing various acts. “I’ve created and developed 15 different kinds of theme shows involving stunts and exhibited them throughout the world for the past 30 years. Zoro is currently running in Dubai.

Brown, who was adjudged the second best in a high diving competition held at Orlando, Florida, in 1982, said some of the stunts at the Sinbad show were performed with great difficulty. Interestingly Brown’s two daughters aged 12 and 8 are also divers. “It gives me immense pleasure when I watch them diving.”
