RIYADH, 29 June — A total of 12,326 shops were closed down last year by municipal authorities in Riyadh for violating health regulations. Owners of the shops were slapped fines of varying amounts. The officials of the Shimal municipality seized 29 transport vehicles for their failure to comply with health regulations, 49 vehicles for selling vegetables and 47 vehicles for dumping waste in an unhygienic manner at public places.
