JEDDAH, 3 July — The World Assembly of Muslim Youth yesterday said it plans to build 10 orphanages in Yemen, Sudan, Afghanistan, Somalia and Senegal to shelter 200 children in these countries.
Dr. Abdul Wahab Noor Wali, WAMY’s assistant secretary-general, said each center would have a vocational training center, a mosque and a clinic in addition to playgrounds and other facilities.
Dr. Noor Wali appealed to Saudi philanthropists to contribute to the construction and running of these centers and to help other WAMY projects in various parts of the world.
The Riyadh-based WAMY runs several orphanages around the world where hundreds of children receive education and vocational training. (AWB)
