BURAIDAH, 10 July — A Saudi girl in the central city of Buraidah expressed her willingness to marry a young suitor from a middle-class family instead of his aged millionaire rival. According to Al-Riyadh Arabic newspaper, the old man had offered her a dowry of SR1 million. “She refused to marry the old man on the grounds that he had another wife,” the paper said. The marriage was the talk of the town as it affirmed the Saudi woman’s right to choose her life partner, it added. (AN)
