MAKKAH, 10 July — The Hera General Hospital in Makkah has set up a committee to look into the case of a Saudi patient who fell into a coma following a surgery, allegedly due to the carelessness of the attending doctor. Musleh Eyad Al-Salami had undergone an operation for neck pain at the hospital. Before entering the operation theater, the expatriate doctor assured that the operation would be successful. But after the operation, the patient was taken to the intensive care unit. Dr. Talal Kareema, director of the hospital, said he suspected malpractice and assured that the doctor involved would be questioned.“He will not be allowed to practice in the Kingdom” if found guilty, Dr. Kareema told Al-Madinah newspaper.
