RIYADH, 14 July — Commerce Ministry sources have clarified that the ministry has not received any information regarding media reports that soybean products being distributed in the global markets contain high levels of a carcinogenic chemical. Saudi Arabia imports soybean products from Thailand, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. A survey of supermarkets in Riyadh revealed that they were displaying large quantities of soybean products from Thailand including the Golden Mountain brand which reportedly contains the toxic chemical.
