RIYADH, 15 July — Passport authorities yesterday called on citizens traveling abroad this summer to keep themselves away from suspicious places for their own safety.
The Passports Directorate warned Saudis against placing too much confidence in strangers, cautioning that gangs trap innocent people drugging food or beverages.
A statement carried by Saudi Press Agency advised travelers to “keep away from places of ill-repute, take public transport and official taxis whenever possible and avoid food and drinks from foreigners.”
If the purpose of the visit is business, the traveler should consult the local embassy or the chamber of commerce and check out the credentials of the foreign businessman, the statement added. (AN)
