ALKHOBAR, 20 July — Perhaps it should have been anticipated. Gary Luzow, attorney for Saudi national Naif Al-Yousef once again put forth the argument that the defendant should be released on bond.
This tactic caused an additional delay in the arraignment of Al-Yousef on charges relating to the January 2001 kidnapping and murder of Saudi student Abdulaziz Al-Koohaji.
Yesterday, the Denver judge heard testimony on why he should allow Al-Yousef to post bond and not remain in prison during the criminal justice process.
The Denver District attorney argued forcefully that the law is quite clear in Al-Yousef’s case and that he should not be granted bail because of the murder charge.
The judge will deliberate over the testimony during the coming week and on July 26, he will make his ruling known.
