RIYADH, 27 July — Prince Fahd ibn Salman, who died of heart attack on Wednesday, was laid to rest at Al-Oud graveyard, south of Riyadh yesterday following funeral prayers at Imam Turki ibn Abdullah Mosque. Prince Fahd, 46, was the eldest son of Riyadh Governor Prince Salman.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd yesterday expressed his deep sorrow and profound grief over the death of Prince Fahd, former deputy governor of Eastern Province. In a message to Prince Salman, the king said: “I share your grief.”

King Fahd asked the governor to convey his most sincere and heart-felt condolences to the late prince’s mother and family, his bereaved children and brothers as well as to all members of the (royal) family.

“We pray to God that He may bestow upon the late prince His mercy, forgive his sins and accommodate him in Paradise. God may also provide you with patience and plentiful of rewards,” the king said.

In his message, Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, reminded that death is the destiny of every living thing and end of everything. “Truly, to God we belong and to Him we return,” the crown prince said quoting the Holy Qur’an.

Imam Turki ibn Abdullah Mosque and its surroundings were crowded with mourners who came to perform the funeral prayer and attend the burial.

Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, led the Saudi and foreign dignitaries who took part in the funeral.
